Legalizing marijuana is one of the biggest debates in America today and its harmful consequences targets all ages groups including teenagers. Marijuana is a controversial topic and should be banned due to its negative impact in society, development of health issues, drug addiction, and crime increase. On June 1, 2015 republican governor Greg Abbott signed the approval of access to cannabis oil, (an extract from marijuana plant), a treatment for multiple medical conditions, including cancer Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, Lyme disease chronic pain, rheumatism, multiple sclerosis, anxiety disorders, asthma and diabetes. The governor stated, Texas won’t legalize marijuana for medicinal or recreational use for as long as he’s in office and by making clear that marijuana laws won’t be relaxed under his watch and only epilepsy patients are eligible for the treatment.(CBSHouston.com, 2015) Individuals supporting marijuana legalization argue that by legalizing marijuana will generate high revenue to benefit the state and this will support law enforcement to focus on other drug violations. Even tho the government can save up to thirteen billion dollars per year by legalizing marihuana, most people arrested for marijuana charges have also committed other crimes to include possession of other drugs. For many years the country has tried to prevent American dollars been generated from unlawfully purchases like drugs, if marijuana is legalized it would contradict this purpose. Marijuana…
