With the recent changes of laws legalizing recreational use and small of amounts of marijuana in many states such as Oregon, Alaska, and Washington, D.C, it has become a very controversial topic in today’s society. Marijuana been has named as dangerous drug that serves no purpose, these types of false malicious claims have been made by misinformed individuals in addition to propaganda throughout the last century, these claims have been replaced with concrete facts. Facts that show marijuana is more than what society perceives, rather a plant with a wide range of potential uses which is why the Federal government should fully legalized Marijuana.
Americas economy once thrived off the growing and use of hemp, hemp is a strain of cannabis grown solely for industrial purposes and has been bred to have low amounts of thc, the active chemical that gives the user a “high” feeling. In 1619 the government required all farmers to hemp for its ideal growing speed, and according to one article by NORML, “Hemp produces a much higher yield per acre than do common substitutes such as cotton and requires few pesticides. In addition, hemp has an average growing cycle of only 100 days and leaves the soil virtually weed-free for the next planting.”(Cite) Warrant: The Legalization of marijuana would not only allow the reintegration of hemp into society, in addition it would positively benefits to the economically and environmentally.
