How many deaths are attributed to alcohol and tobacco a year? How many deaths are attributed to marijuana ? Alcohol approximately has about 88,000 deaths a year and tobacco has approximately 41,000 people per year, while marijuana had a total of zero deaths. Marijuana is judged to be a bad drug. Marijuana is made from flowers and leaves of a plant called Cannabis Sativa, which is another name for marijuana. The main ingredient in marijuana is THC- tetrahydrocannabinol. Marijuana goes all the way back to “Evidence of marijuana cultivation reaches back as far as 2737 B.C. China, where it was used as an treatment for Rheumatism, malaria, and absent mindedness”(Miller 1). “The Spanish brought pot to America in 1545, and the English arrived with pot in Jamestown in 1611”(Miller 1). It was considered a major cash crop. Legalizing marijuana in all states would be a good thing based on the research conducted. Marijuana could be smoked or it can come in a oil based form that could be injected.

Legalizing marijuana could be a great health benefit to those who are in need of help. Marijuana contains cannabidiol and tetrahydrocannabinol. CBD can impact the brain without being high and THC can relieve pain. Marijuana helps with a lot of health problems, some you may not even think of. The main health problem is Glaucoma. “ Marijuana decreases the pressure inside the eye”(Welsh and Loria 2). This would relieve pain that you would receive from the pressure in your eye.
