Growing up, everyone has heard of the phrase: "Drugs are bad." As kids, we nodded and promised not to be influenced by drugs; however, many people in society today are drug users or even addicts. But what if drugs were not surrounded by negative connotations, but positive connotations and were legally useable? Marijuana is a great example of the conflicting views on its use. Marijuana is present everywhere in people 's lives, be it in the media or in the neighborhood alley. So why is this popular drug illegal almost everywhere in the world and is an especially controversial topic in the United States? If legalized, marijuana would benefit the United States in terms of health, economy, and social reparations.
Marijuana legalization is a widely controversial topic, and there are numerous reasons to why many people support it and are against it. One main reason why people support Marijuana legalization is the benefits marijuana contribute as a helpful medicinal drug (Leong). Many states in America have already legalized marijuana for medical use, while others have not yet done so. Because marijuana is already widely used for medicinal purposes, it should be a legal drug, especially since no problems have yet risen. Marijuana, as a medicine, can relieve pain and migraines and help people deal with ADHD.
