In today’s society, marijuana is commonly utilized by many teens and adults, whether it is for medical reasons, socializing, obtaining a high, or escaping depression. Even though cannabis is an illegal drug, this does not stop people from getting a hold of it. There is only so much the law can enforce if the people do not want to listen. Although marijuana affects the natural brain functions such as: memory, coordination, learning, and the ability to problem solve; forcing it to stay illegal causes no difference in the use, but contributes to a higher crime rate that needs to be dealt with.
So although recreational marijuana is illegal in several countries around the world, controlled medicinal use of marijuana has been linked to several positive outcomes involving different diseases and health issues. These include anxiety, glaucoma, muscle spasms, muscle pains and can also help decrease nausea and vomiting in chemo patients with cancer.
What would you think if I told you I knew an 11 year old that was using marijuana? You would sit there thinking oh my god this generation is more messed up than I thought. How is it possible that 11 year olds get access to pot? But I reckon only a couple of you thought; I wonder what medical condition they have? And the thing is most of us don’t think about medicine when we hear the word marijuana, and the percentage of people that know about the positives medical marijuana can do is so low that it’s too difficult to inform other people…
