Marijuana finds it’s way into almost everyone’s lives at some point.
It is a very prominent issue in society today. Should use of marijuana be legalized? Although many people on the opposing side of this debate have made many slanderous claims, statistics and studies have proven them false.
Many argue that legalization is evading America’s responsibility to protect young people and it is sending the wrong message. But the substance possesses health benefits, is safer than other drugs, etc.
Marijuana is a commonly used substance in the U.S. and it should be legalized because society will most likely never stop using it. Cannabis has been used for medicinal, mental, spiritual reasons, and recreation for thousands of years. Why not legalize marijuana for profit?
The use of marijuana for medicinal purposes is now legal in 23 states (Brown Lee P). Yet, many people are still unable to obtain this treatment, even though cannabis possesses numerous health benefits.
From 1850 to 1942 Marijuana was used as a useful medicine for nausea, rheumatism, and labor pains and could even be purchased in general stores (Johnny Green).
Studies have proven that cannabis aids both lung and breast cancer (Johnny Green).
Nobody has ever overdosed on marijuana, ever, in the history of mankind. It is not a hardcore drug. Yet it’s still classified as a schedule 1 controlled substance, a category reserved for dangerous drugs…
